Today I decide to write an entry in my journal, a practice I hope I can continue on a daily basis.

Today began like any ordinary Sunday, until Mom broke out into some form of emotional breakdown. We were planning to go to Sunday School until this happened. We ended up just going to the service at Redland Baptist Church. This was actually the very first time I have ever heard my Mom say that she wanted to just die, a thought that actually comes to me a rather disturbingly frequent basis. Things would be so much easier if we simply did not continue to live. We wouldn't have any worries or anything like that. I know I can get depressed rather easily. Although I may think that death is an easy route, I have absolutely no intention of ending my own life. I am learning to trust God, the Creator of the universe, to bring peace to my soul that only He can bring. I am beginning to learn to really trust and obey Him.

I am also beginning to try to start organizing Andrew's bachelor party. Need to work out mainly just place and date.

I also found out that Katherine Farrell is engaged to be married. I am just trusting that God will bring a lady into my life that I can marry. I just want someone to love like that, someone to hold close, to snuggle with, to stroke her hair, to stroke her soft skin, to buy her chocolate and roses, to smell her hair, to wake up and say "I love you, and you are so beautiful", to go grocery shopping with, to carry her whenever I want while she screams and hollers against it, to dance with. Maybe I'm just one of those hopeless romantics.

I have also decided that I should keep a journal of my Bible reading. Just my thoughts and convictions. I also decided to compile a sort of document of my favorite Bible passages. I have also decided that I should read more.

I then commenced with my political science homework. How fun. I'm not sure if I really like online classes, although I must confess that the workload seems to be lighter. But I like direct interaction and discussion in the classroom, especially for subjects that I find intriguing and even entertaining.

I then went to work for four hours. Kind of silly to go to work for that short time.

After work, I finished up my political science homework, and thus my day ended.

Well, today I decided to write an entry for my journal. Maybe I can try to keep it up.

Today started out like any ordinary day: with the thought that I knew I had to go to work.

Dad woke both Daniel and I to help him with some things around the yard. I then came in and got some breakfast and mostly goofed off until 11 when I had to go to work. I did find out that Sarah Jayne is engaged to be married. This actually makes me feel somewhat depressed. I must confess that I might have been attracted to Sarah Jayne through our trip to Europe. And we are also the same age and graduated together. But yet, she is getting married, and I am still so alone. How long must I be so alone? It seems that everyone around me is getting married, and I do not have anyone at all. What's wrong with me? What am I doing wrong? But as a side note, I still find Sarah Jayne a beautiful lady and very attractive, I do not have feelings for her like I might have had in the past.

Work was very much the same. Except for the fact that we did have some some early excitement. A customer crashed into the new release endcap, and the whole endcap came crashing down, movies and all. It was actually quite funny. We did have to fix that.

Not much else happened except that I came to two realizations. The first is that the common attitude of men towards women disgusts me, and that the fact that many women accept this treatment and attitude as something that is pleasing or acceptable and do nothing to prevent or discourage it but rather aid it also disgusts me. Come on people. Women are not simply tools of sexual desire. I believe that both sides are at fault.

The second is that mankind has lost all sense of common courtesy. It is sad when people cannot put things back where they found them. Why not just put it back correctly? And people do not care if you wish to maybe walk faster than themselves. For example, a person can be walking down the middle of an aisle very, very slowly. They know that you are there behind them and you actually have somewhere to go, but will not simple alter their course by deviating to the right a little bit. My goodness. There are many other signs that the world is doomed to disrespect, but these are on my mind at the present moment.

When I cam home, I basically did some more goofing off until I went to bed.

Election Day, 4 November 2008

Well, I voted in a general election for the very first time in my life today. That's the big news, I suppose.

I had to wake up at 5:30 this morning just so I could actually vote and not be late for class. I got to the Wetumpka Civic Center at about 6:30 A.M., and there were about 30 people in front of me ready to go vote. It's amazing how early people can get to the polls. By the time they opened the doors, I bet there was a hundred or more people standing and waiting in line.

The overall process went rather quickly. I was in and out within 15 minutes. They had the paper ballots where you connect the arrows. I didn't vote straight Republican. I voted for Republicans, Democrats, and even an Independent. In the major areas, I voted for McCain/Palin, Sessions, and Love.

The reason I voted for McCain/Palin is because of the issue of abortion. That is my main reason. He would place judges in the Supreme Court that would overturn Roe v. Wade and end the mass slaughter of innocents for the sake of the comfort of a woman or man. It saddens me deeply that we have placed a higher value on the comfort of a person more than the actual life of another person. Yes, that child is life indeed. Now, I understand that the ideal situation is Congress making a law or even a Constitutional ammendment describing exactly what life is and that the destruction of this life is murder. But, I am also a practical person, and we must end this slaughter as quickly as possible.

Additionally, Obama would only increase the government economic welfare in a great way. As I was driving this morning to the polls, I was listening to the radio, I heard something very depressing. There was a lady who was being quoted to be essentially stating that if Obama won (and she was voting for Obama), she would not have to worry about filling her car up with gasoline or worry about paying her mortgage. Firstly, Obama has not promised to do such a thing. I submit that if Obama is indeed shot at, it will be by those people who supported him in the past and even voted for him, but do not think that he has fulfilled what they think Obama promised to do. Take our lady for example.

Secondly, this increase in welfare is not a good thing at all. Joseph Stalin had another name for the redistributation of wealth: Communism. The essential principle of Communism is the redistributation of wealth. Some may call it Socialism, but Socialism is only a degree of Communism. And what is welfare: the restributation of wealth. Now, let's take a look at the logic of welfare. If someone gets money for nothing that came from responsible taxpayers like myself, and this is increased, then what is preventing me from thinking, "Well, this person gets more money than me, and they don't even have to work for it. Gee, why should I even work at all or work so hard? Seems like a stupid idea to me. I'll just take the free money." Now, as more and more people think this, the more and more burden that will be put on the responsible taxpayers paying for these programs. As the taxpayers foot a greater bill, they will eventually give in and just take the free money. Now, what if this goes on until all Americans are dopey Americans that are on these programs? What will happen the economy then? I submit that the Great Depression will look like happy days.

Welfare is essentially forced charity or stealing from the rich to feed the poor.

Now, you may think that I am being a selfish little brat who does not care for fellow man. But I do. Americans give billions and billions of dollars every year to private charity out of their own free will. Now, if we take away government welfare, I submit that this number will only increase because there is more money available. And anyways, with government welfare, we are also paying for the beaurocracy. Private charity is not only right, but is also much more effective than forced government charity.

Now, I understand that McCain is not for the abolotion of all welfare programs, but he will not make it greater than Obama.

And let it be recorded that I do not support McCain fully. I chose to be practical on these two issues.

After I got through with voting, I headed on to class.

Chemistry is always interesting. For some reason, they call me "Giggles" in that class because supposedly I like to giggle quite frequently. We had lecture and a lab. We finished discussing come gas law stuff. The was about finding the value of "R" in the Ideal Gas Law equation PV=nRT. Boring, I know.

In art class, I got to share my project. There was one girl who had a lovely painting using oil pastels. Very nice it was indeed.

In speech class, we finished covering the seven steps to formal speaking. Transitions are important. Write what you want to say on note cards. And practice, practice, practice.

The sad thing is that Dr. Prochaska is an abortion supporter. He will refer to those who are anti-abortion, or Pro-Life, as Neanderthals because they do not support that woman's control over her own reproductive system. What about the life of that child, that human being? I am going one of my speeches to inform the audience that a living human being is growing inside the mother.

In English class, we just worked on drafting and introductions to our research paper. I am writing on the abolotion of certain types of welfare that essentially amount to the government giving away free money, such as cash assistance, Medicaid, and food stamps. Should be a good paper. I'm enjoying it.

I want to leave you all with a thought: Your vote is not your only voice. Goodness me. Soldiers have fought, bled, and died for all your voices. The First Ammendment to the U.S. Constitution of 1787 states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." Yep. You heard it. Be responsible, unlazy citizens and do something about the problems. Stop griping, complaining, and gossiping about it. Do something. Take action. This is what America was founded on. Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."
So, realize the last, greatest, more important, and least known check and balance: the checks and balances between the government and the governed or the people. And the Second Ammendment provides you with that legal right. I believe that the founders of this country specifically knew that men are corrupt and must be restrained in whatever manner possible. I suppose I am tired of people thinking that teh only civil duties they have as citizens is to vote and serve on a jury. This is laziness. It is simply not enough to just vote, but be active in your government. Keep it in line. Check its power constantly.

I don't know what I am going to do with this.
